Can you wear memorial jewellery every day?
Memorial jewellery can be part of your everyday life, but regular wear does not mean leaving it on for every activity. For Fur & Forever’s resin-set pieces, plan when you will remove the jewellery and where you will keep it safely between wears.
This guide helps you decide how a piece would fit your routine. It covers jewellery with fur, hair or ashes set in resin. Follow the instructions for your chosen product and use our full jewellery care guide for cleaning and storage details.
Look at an ordinary day before choosing
Think about when you would put the jewellery on and take it off. Could you leave it safely at home before a swimming session? Would you remember to remove it before bed? If your work involves frequent handwashing, cleaning products or physical activity, ask the studio about the piece you are considering before ordering.
For example, you might wear your keepsake after exercise rather than take it to the gym. You might prefer occasional wear if removing and storing it repeatedly would be inconvenient. Neither choice changes what the jewellery means to you.
Build removal into familiar routines
Remove resin-set jewellery before swimming, bathing, sleeping, exercising or household cleaning. Take it off for a shower too. Keep it away from cleaning agents and avoid activities that expose it to heavy knocks.
Perfume, hairspray, lotions and other household products also belong in your planning. Put jewellery on after your getting-ready routine, avoiding contact with these products. Avoid leaving it in strong sunlight or heat for long periods.
Choose a storage spot away from the basin or bath. Put the piece there before an activity rather than taking it off in a hurry. When out, use a protective jewellery case instead of carrying it loose in a pocket or bag.
Keep cleaning appropriate to the material
The metal and the resin setting need different attention. On a silver piece, a silver polishing cloth is for the silver surfaces: keep it away from the resin. For gold, follow the care instructions for your particular piece.
Follow the cleaning instructions for your piece rather than assuming that a cleaner suitable for plain metal jewellery is suitable for the inclusion setting. Do not use chemical dips, ultrasonic cleaners or abrasives on the resin or inclusions. Ask the studio if you are unsure which instructions apply.
Store it between wears
Keep the piece dry and cool, away from humid rooms, heat and prolonged direct sunlight. Store pieces individually so they do not rub against one another. A hard jewellery case is useful when travelling.
Choose somewhere you can find again easily. A consistent storage habit helps if you plan to remove a ring several times during the week.
Ask before treating a mark or change
If your jewellery is scratched, becomes dull or has had accidental exposure to a product, contact the studio before trying stronger cleaners or a home repair. Explain what happened and which piece you have so the advice can be specific. Repair options depend on the piece and what has happened to it.
